Chances of me making the volleyball team?
Hey... hope everyone's having a good day (:
I just wanted to know my chances of making the volleyball team. I've played for about a year now, and I'm about to go into high school.
Here's what I've got:
1.) A really nice underhand serve.
2.) Very good bumper, I can hit fast balls.
3.) Not a very good setter.
-I know high school coaches prefer you to have your overhand serve. Tryouts are in the last week of May. Do you think I can get and perfect my underhand serve in two months?
-I am also going to try to get better at my setting.
Thanks!

With your qualifications, I don't think you'll get in the JV team. I don't know if the school you go to have a grade 9 team but if there is, I think you have a pretty decent chance of getting in. Overhand serving doesn't take that long to learn, so I think you'll get it sooner than you think. Same goes with setting. Practice, practice, practice.

In high school you basically have to overhand serve. You will look like a total beginner if you underhand serve. You can learn the overhand serve two months, but you really have to work at it several times a week. Don't call anything a "bumper". That alone makes you sound like a beginner. It is a pass, not a bump. Good luck. Its hard to say your chances at making the team since I don't know the overall skill level of the other girls trying out. :)

You need to learn an overhand serve but they would like jump serves. Also work on your setting. hope for the best because you can never be sure you will make the team
