Bizarre police officer statement. Why was he being like this?
I was the victim of a drunken prank where someone pushed my car into the middle of the road.
The police turned up at my door at 3AM on a Sunday morning to advise me. By the way I should note I had been drinking in the house that evening but I wasn't drunk, slurring my words or in any way aggressive. In fact when they knocked the door I had been sleeping for about five hours and had my last drink at 10PM. I had not been to the pub.
Anyway after clarifying how the car had got in the road and even explaining that I hadn't used the car all day, they asked if I could move the car,to which my partner responded "i'll move it as you've been drinking!". The police officer immediately quipped "you've been drinking?". I said "yes" and he said "something doesn't ring true here!". I didn't know how to respond and he repeated "something doesn't ring true about this!".
What an odd thing to do. The lights were clearly out when they knocked as they needed to use a torch to see the number on their house. The car was locked, the handbreak was on and I was very sober when they arrived (probably didn't have any alcohol in my system) and I volunteered the information that I had been drinking that evening so they knew that I would not move the car as I didn't want to drive having been drinking the previous evening.
Why would he react like this? Especially when he was at my door at 3AM in the morning.

u don't need to explain yourself in any way. u have the right to be drinking and be drunk inside your home. he didn't have any rights to insinuate anything. if I were u I would report him the next morning to his managgement

I'd be more concerned that you live in an area where people randomly push cars into the middle of the road. You do realize tires don't roll sideways, right? That's not good for your mountings at all. If the area's that bad then consider moving, or maybe get a damn bicycle lock and fasten your car to a tree.
But anyway Tim is right. Cops don't trust anyone, especially people who have cars in the middle of the road while talking about how they'd been drinking.

he reacted like that because the car was in the road and they might have been thinking maybe you were so drunk you thought you were parking car in the driveway ...... or they may have been shocked to hear that because you were totally sober and why would a sober person leave the car in the road.
