Has anyone ever won an MVP in baseball while batting second in the lineup?

Can't think of anyone that's done it off the top of my head. Anyone know of anyone that has? It's mostly cleanup and 3rd spots that do it, with the occasional leadoff guy.

Yes, and quite recently; Dustin Pedroia won the 2008 AL MVP, batting second in 132 games.

Others include Barry Larkin (1995 NL), Robin Yount (1982 NL; he hit second more than any other player for the 1989 Brewers, but he hit more at 4th, it's really more that the Brewers couldn't figure out who to bat second).

    There's probably a lot more.

Source(s): I went backwards and stopped looking after 1989 [Yount also won in 1982, so I checked while I was on his page].

    Hm... maybe Sandberg? Let's check...

    1984 NL MVP w/Cubs

    Played 156 games (all starts).

Batted second in every single game.

    There ya go.
