Engine overhaul a good idea? 08 trailblazer?

I have an 08 trailblazer with about 115k miles. In one of my classes at school I have to do an overhaul on an engine. I have no problems with this engine or anything and runs fine. Would this be a bad idea?

    My TrailBlazer has 239,000 miles. Wanna overhaul my engine? Complete teardown and rebuild from top to bottom, maybe port the head and build the bottom end so I can add boost. Then I'll want a built tranny to tolerate 450 or so ft lbs of torque. How does that sound?

    Bad idea. Go get one from the junk yard to practice on.

    yes it would be a bad idea, unless having a bunch of school kids working on you motors sounds good to you
