Vehicles equipped with side impact airbags use two impact or Satellite Acceleration Sensors (SAS). One is located on each respective side body B-pillar.

There are two SAS (standard) in the front of the vehicle to aid in frontal, angular and offset impact detection.

There is usually one on all 4 corners of the frame, A good code reader will get the SRS fault codes out of it.

airbag sensors are in the front and back bumpers. However it sounds like an electrical problem, which are complex for stupid geese monkeys. Get ready to pay if you want it fixed.

clockspring id bet, it carries the connections for your horn, radio, cruise and whatever other button you want to throw up there. i can almost guarantee an intermittent problem leads back to the clockspring regardless of the troublecode.

there are no other problem areas in a pt cruiser that i know of, the srs system is protected from just about everything under the hood. it is mounted behind the grill/bumper(sensor) so if you drug off your bumper, it could be a circuit problem, but i seriously doubt this.

there are about 100 different reasons an srs system is disabled, but the only moving parts besides the passenger seat sensor is the clockspring.

There is no particular reason to suspect that a sensor is responsible for the light coming on imtermittently

More likely to be aproblem with the connection to the steering wheel bag but even that is not certain
