To soon for seedlings on a covered porch?

Instead of buying flats of flowers this year I decided to start my own seedlings. I am going to put the seeds inside the pots I intend to use all summer. If I were to keep them on the porch and cover them with a sheet at night (or below freezing) will they survive? I live in a very small home in Mid Michigan. Outside would be ideal for me!

Hi Buttercup, maybe still a little early, being still very cold where I am. If your porch is warmish, you could do it. What I have done is put four metal rods in and cover with a plastic bag forming a greenhouse or glass house affect.
