How do you sign up for old age benefits in Philippines?

A Filipina friend of mine's mother in a remote village in Mindanao is 80 years old and has never signed up for the P.I. version of Medicare or Medicaid free medical care. And, I learned she doesn't have an OSCA ID which is required for getting the Senior fare for airlines, ferries, etc.

Have any of you helped an elderly person sign up for their benefits in the P.I.? Where did you do it, and what was required?

your friend's mom should inquire from DSWD nearest their place. She's probably qualified for a Philhealth card issued by the government. However, it can go only be used for hospitalization and may not cover all expenses. Elderlies above 60 also enjoy 20% discount on purchases and transport fare but I think that's basically all there is.

Sorry clncarpls but google doesn't seem to work in your favor this time. SSS benefits are only for eligible members working for the private sector and should meet a certain number of contributions. It's not for everyone.

I'm afraid applying for a Philhealth card now many not benefit her at her age if she has not consistently paid her contributions through the years.
