Why can't comments be edited?

The comments option is great. It allows for much deeper understanding of peoples answers, but it's not possible to edit once you've commented on someone's answer. Why is that, and can/will Yahoo fix it so that comments can be edited like answers?

Well, I hope Yahoo! does put an edit option on the comment add-on because today I was typing fast, thought I had proof read my comment and submitted it. After it was submitted I reread it and I had left out an entire word. Great! No way to go back and insert the word, so... it would be beneficial to have an edit feature on the comments.

I also wish there was a notification system for when people do make comments. I rarely go back and look at my answers. If someone has made a snide comment, I would at least like to know about it and perhaps make a counter comment.

I miss the old days of Yahoo Answers, but the comment add-on is neat. So, why can't comments be edited? Well, that's because there is no edit option built in. Maybe the Yahoo Answers team will comment!
