Yes. If you believe in libertarian concepts you should register that way. The downside is that DHS will place you on a terror watch list, of course. But, the two party system is so corrupt that it must die.

I guess it depends on what kind of libertarian you are. Years ago we had a separate Libertarian Party, and their philosophy was quite different from the current small-l libertarian wing of the GOP.

I hardly ever agreed with big-L Libertarians, but I enjoyed talking to them and writing with them on the Internet. They tended to be very smart, well-read, they'd done their homework and they could make good arguments. I think Ron Paul started out in the Libertarian Party, but when he became a Republican he moderated his philosophy somewhat, and 'libertarianism' just became another variety of Republican neo-conservatism. But Ron Paul had real principles and he stuck to them.

Today Republican small-l libertarianism is represented by Rand Paul, and Rand is mostly wanting to avoid the mistakes his dad made, namely sticking to his principles. Rand is a shameless panderer.

Today when someone tells you he's a libertarian it usually is just a cover for wanting total gun rights, no taxes, Drill Baby Drill, an arrogant unilateral foreign policy, etc. etc. Tea Party leaders identify themselves as 'libertarian'. The once-valid philosophy now represents only self-indulgence. Cliven Bundy probably considers himself a libertarian.

No, a Libertarian is just another part of the Republican party.

If you are willing to compromise your believes to be part of another group that is pretty much the definition of hypocritical. Especially when that other group only pays lip service to your cause. When in actuality they work against you. Ask yourself if you truly believe they will lower taxes and, reduce spending. Will they continue to expand military adventurism across the globe. Will they expand personal freedom while legislating what happens in a woman's uterus. I'm going cut this off because, it's starting to get long winded.

It's a marriage of convenience, like Bill & Hillary. You get some of what you want, but not the stuff that really rattles your dinger.

No. Why would it be hypocritical? I'm a libertarian and a registered Republican.
