Gambling in the state of Virginia?
Is it illegal in the state of Virginia to hold a poker game in your own home?
Say it is just between four or five individuals, roughly about $1000 or so, and not really anything major.
It seems that no one in the legal section, such as law enforcement or laws, on Yahoo! Answers knows or is willing to comment.
Thanks.

Check with your state lawmakers to be sure, but in general, here's what I've always heard about such matters:
As long as nobody is taking a "rake", then it's legal. In other words, you can't host the game and take a dollar out of every pot for yourself as host, or you can't charge everyone fifty bucks for the privilege of playing in your game. Once you start charging, then it becomes illegal.
Above all else, remember you are taking the word of complete strangers on Yahoo! Answers. Even if I said, "I'm 100% positive it's legal!", so what? That isn't going to really help you if I am wrong. It's ultimately your responsibility to check with your lawmakers. E-mail one of your state legislatures. If they don't know the answer, they'll refer you to someone who does.

I can suggest Bovada (for usa players) - Http://Tinyurl.com/ongzx8r
or Titan Poker - Http://Tinyurl.com/k4fayeo
It's my favourite poker sites where I play about 2 years.
It's safe and popular gambling sites.
Good luck.
