Do not put the guinea pig in any sort of wheel, ball or harness. Guinea pigs have very fragile spines that are not designed to bend backwards as they would in a wheel. They aren't hamsters, they aren't as flexible. Guinea pigs are made to run on flat surfaces. Any vet that told you to put your guinea pig in a ball isn't properly trained in guinea pig care and is likely a normal dog and cat vet rather than an exotics one.
Guinea pigs are big and slow enough that they don't need a ball to safely exercise outside of the cage. A much safer and kinder approach would be to pig proof a room or part of a room and let him explore that way. Use books, DVD cases, cardboard, anything to block off small areas and move anything he could chew out of the way.

For someone asking for answers you could at least have some manners plus you said you didn't want your answer to be a no so your technically ruining the point of asking a question. I've volunteered at my local shelter and vet, from what I've learned guinea pigs should not have a running ball as it bends their back. This is unnatural as guinea pigs can get injuries because of this. There body wasn't designed to have a bending back like hamsters. But since you want some help, I would recommend putting some food into the excercise ball and let him slowly crawl in.
Hope I helped! I would advise going to a guinea pig forum as they'll know more info.

That vet knows squat. Any animal running in a ball develops back problems (ask a GOOD vet about it). Just take a look how the poor things back is bent like a bow. That's not natural.
Guinea pigs like all animals need to run freely and be able to sniff around and investigate things. They need mental stimulation and things to interest them, not to be shut in one of those damn awful balls.

put him in his ball, put the ball (with him inside) on the ground, and let him explore. He should want to explore the house if he hasn't yet
