Yes, I completely support the right of consenting adults to freely express their religious convictions.
HOWEVER, I do not support the marrying off of child brides, and I don't think arranged marriage works well in plural communities. I feel that the entire family must make the decision about whether or not to take another wife. I also feel that 4 is enough wives (Muslims have this limit, while fundamentalist Mormons have no limit). Men don't seem to be able to handle more than that, and it's unfair to the wives when it's done in excess. I think it's also very, very important that polygamy be faith based. I think that if the desire to live a polygamist lifestyle is sex based, that is exploitative to all involved, and an inappropriate environment for children. It should be a deep spiritual calling, IMO. Definitely not a lifestyle for everyone, but it IS a valid choice.
