Well, what "serious damage" is would be in the eye of the beholder, right?
If you backed into her car and knocked paint off it, it was just a little accident -- it was not intentional. If she does not like the way her car looks now, just call up your insurance company and have her car fixed. Simple!

Yes. Absolutely. I agree with M, not telling her is deceiving her, which is lying. It may not seem like a big deal right now, but she may notice it and ask you whether or not you saw anything. The lie is going to create problems. Just fess up and apologize.
