Kik (pronounced Kick), is basically a type of Imstant Messaging service, although I would not consider it an IM service because if you or the person you are contacting doesn't have reliable internet the app doesn't seem to work very well. Here's a screenshot of it...

You can send text messages, multimedia messages; just like on WhatsApp and LINE. Just like Facebook messanger you can send and receive messages and images. That's what it is. You don't need numbers like WhatsApp but usernames like facebook and other social networks. I hope it helps you.

It's an instant messaging app. I'm not sure how to use it either because I don't have one.

Basically an alternate to texting, but with usernames instead of numbers.
