new words and phrases that really bug you?

i've largely given up being annoyed by "to be, like..." as a way of quoting something or somebody.

the one that annoys me now is people who think they are being polite or something by prefacing questions with "do you know..."

earlier this afternoon i was walking down the street and a guy was, like, "do you know where the bus stop is?" rather than a literal answer "yes, i know where the bus stop is." i just pointed across the street... :-}

    I liked the word, "Latin" as in "Latin lover." Years ago we used the term for anybody from a country where people spoke a romance language--- France, Italy, Spain and so on. People who did not know English very well came to the United States and self-identified as "Latinos." Suddenly, I, of French descent, became an Anglo and no longer a "Latin." Bad language drives out good. I compare it to calling a Portuguese person a sp*c." It's insulting and the wrong country.

    The worst part is not knowing if they are trying to insult me or if they are just ignorant,

    I'd rather be called a frog than an Anglo.

    What is illiterate about "do you know where the bus stop is?" But words that annoy me are slang words such as swag, yolo, bae, and all of those words. I know bae is an acronym, but people use it so annoyingly today that I don't consider it a useful term..

  • barrel bomb. ever since it hit the news for the first time, it happens to be the same blaming finger everywhere in the world pointing at air forces doing their jobs.

    previously, the similar finger pointing "devilishly evil weapon of our despicable opponent" was, lo and alas, CLUSTERbomb

    prior to it, whitephosphorus.

    counter terrorist operation. again, similar buzz phrase that is thrown as a cammo blanket over range of operations including the invasion of ukraine.

    anyways, was this a wordsplay on your part, using your previous annoyance of choice to describe the situation for the new one?

    You are a complete retard. He was asking you if you knew where the bus stop was. So what.. He could have called you a big handed, male faced freak.. Or tranny. He did not however because this is impolite, and would not be right.
