Nissan 97 truck, sluggish acceleration, tries to go dead when slowing down or stopped?

The engine starts fine but acceleration is sluggish and I have to gently press the gas petal to keep it from going dead when I am stopped at a traffic light or sign. This is not a constant problem and seems to happen in cycles. It is getting worse though. What could be the problem?

Electronic Idle speed control do not adjust anything. Better have any trouble codes checked out. You may need to have fuel pressure tested. More information like 2.5 liter or 4.0 liter motor how many miles manual or automatic trans?

It could also be your IAC ( Idle Air Control) either full of carbon or going bad.

you might need to adjust your idle screw, its a tiny screw you turn like have or full way and it controls how high rpm it idles in. i got a dakota thats the same way it stalls backing up sometimes and doesnt idle in the cold without you giving it gas.

look on google where to find the adjustment or just go to an oil changing place like superlube theyd be able to help for cheap
