Why are New Yorkers so loud ?

I live in Florida and there are a lot of New Yorkers who move down here because Democrats have destroyed their states with high taxes and over regulation of ... everything.

I can be in a restaurant of 100 people and if there's one voice above all others, they're usually wearing a NY hat or shirt and they sound like an idiot...

I live in NY. Nobody has "destroyed our state". It is expensive to run a state that is the educational and cultural center of the universe. We MAKE more than you - we PAY more than you. And we re-elect Democrats! A popular joke here is :

"What's the difference between Florida and yogurt?"

    "Only ONE has live culture."

Remain jealous. We will continue to send you all the people whose tourism and retirement dollars support YOUR gator-wrestling economy. As far as LOUD - most of the outfits and makeup I see on RESIDENTS - Florida natives - on my yearly vacation trips to my villa in Ft. Lauderdale are LOUD. And you DO realize that everywhere you go, people are wearing NY hats - I recently passed an entire tour group of Polish kids IN POLAND- all wearing NY Yankees hats - like, 50 of them! Where do you go where you see droves of people wearing FLORIDA hats??? Maybe MIckey ears - there's YOUR culture.

Are you talking about the New York City retiree transplants to Florida? If you are, the key word is "RETIREE." They're old people, and are probably half deaf!.

There are many noises in New York City, so to be heard you have to speak more loudly. Its all a matter of perspective.

It's funny you should say that. I am a Californian and about 10 years ago I went to Florida. I was amazed at how high the volume was. It was so loud, especially in restaurants. People talked loud, plates clanked and there just didn't seem to be much respect for peace and quiet.

I worked as a waitress in California and was taught to be as quiet and unobtrusive around customers as possible. It's a totally different experience.
