Wil this particular RAM work in my PC?
I've got this old Acer Aspire X1800 with one GDDR2-800 2GB 128MX8 1.8V RAM installed.
There's an extra unused slot that I thought I could take advantage of by putting in a spare chip I had which is a 'Super Talent' STT DDR2-667 PC5300 1GB.
I know I can physically install it however I'm not sure if my PC will 'take' it as it is an older, worse one. (I don't fully understand the whole 800/667 pc5300 bit).
I already know all about the whole non-symmetrical thing and I've looked it all up so don't bother mentioning it.

Try it and see... you won't hurt anything.
It should work just fine, but it may in fact slow the whole machine down because the ram that's installed runs at 800 Mhz while the one you want to install runs at 667Mhz... meaning if you put that in the empty slot they may both work at 667.
Think of it like you own an old sports car and you want to increase seating area by towing a slower car. You can only move as fast as the slowest component, but you'll get more seating area. now if you only ever seat 2 people then the whole thing was a waste of time.
