Why is Chrome so slow on my computer?

I installed Chrome and it takes up to 15 seconds to respond. Also, when I do anything in Chrome, it freezes for a few seconds every few seconds, particularly when I'm typing. I have Windows 7 on an HP All In One touchscreen pc.

How many files and programs are on your computer? Anything that slows down your computer in general might slow down programs that you use (e.g. Chrome). Defragment, run a disk cleanup, delete files, clear your web browser data, do something, anything.

Do you have the most recent version of Chrome? If not, install the latest version.

If your computer is old - which I don't think it is - then hardware could be a factor. What is the processor speed and how much RAM is installed?

Your internet connection could also be a problem. Who is your internet service provider (ISP), and what internet speed do you have? If your internet is slow, then web pages load slow, and the browser might freeze. Often times Chrome will give you an option to "Wait" for a slow page to load or "Kill" or "Stop" a page that is taking a long time to load.

Also, if you have any programs running simultaneously - especially programs that use up a lot of memory (e.g. Photoshop) - then I would close them.

Close other programs that you have opened on your computer. They may be using up a lot of memory on your computer, causing your browsers to behave slowly.

Try visiting another site. The site you're trying to open may be temporarily down, plugin also slow speed, remove all extension and clear history from beginning.

    Use other browsers

Try reinstalling Chrome with a fresh download from official site and try other browsers. check out your add-ons and extensions -- one old and crappy one can slow down all the system
