How do a wake a Dell XPS 8700 from "safe sleep" mode?
I read that you push the Windows key, wait one second, then push Enter, but that does nothing.
If I just tap the power button, the computer restarts, but I get the "blue screen" and have to select a restart. This takes about 2 minutes or more and then I get an error message about Windows not shutting down properly.
There must be a keystroke combination that simply wakes the computer up in 2-3 seconds without all that fuss.

I have set "never" for the power saving option, but it still goes into sleep mode.

The "blue screen" you refer to is more accurately described by the technical acronym "BSOD" (blue screen of death), a traditional feature of all Microsoft operating systems dating back to the original IBM PC that started it all.
You don't say what operating system you are using. I'll assume Windows 8 which has problems waking from sleep. Google "Windows 8 sleep mode issue" or "Windows 8 sleep mode problem" for more info and possible solutions. You can also contact Microsoft and ask about it.
I use Linux and have neither the time or desire to solve the problems associated with each new iteration of Windows. Why should I have to learn a new operating system every 2 years just so Bill Gates can make another billion?
