how to turn off charm bar in windows 8.1?
How do you turn off the charm bar on the right side of the screen in windows 8.1? I followed a faq online and under properties I was able to turn it off when using the desktop: BUT: it still appears whenever im working inside a browser. It still appears when I use IE, OPERA, GOOGLE CHROME. Whenever my curser hovers on the right side of the screen in any browser, the charm bar appears and it "kidnaps" my curser and I have to struggle with it to regain control. It's so annoying. The online guides ive used only make it go away when using the DESKTOP and not from inside a browser. How do I get rid of it completely?

I'm not sure it can be gotten rid of completely. It's kind of essential for modern apps. Anywho, the charms bar only pops up under specific conditions.
If you hover your pointer at the top right or bottom right corners then you'll see the ghostly image of the charms. If you pull down from the top or push up from the bottom then the charms will appear fully. So the solution there is to move the cursor to the left without moving up or down to get out of it.
A lot of people would try to close full screen programs but then get tripped up when they overshot the close button at the top right corner of the window. Windows 8.1 introduced a new option to fix that.
Right click an empty spot on the desktop taskbar then click Properties. There should be an option to disable the top right hot corner so that doesn't happen to you anymore.
Finally, if you're using a laptop the Windows 8.1 has a number of touch gestures. Swiping in from the right side of the touch pad will pull out the charms. There might be a setting to disable gestures in the settings for your touchpad. Check the touchpad icon in the system tray for that.
