why are wall outlets placed so low?
This position debenefits almost everyone:
-You have to squat to plug things in
-Cords are unnoticable, and people trip over them
-you have to move most furniture out of the way when plugging and unplugging
-flash floods
-nothing you plug in is on the floor, so cord damage.
why don't they put em at like, knee height, only like a foot higher.

Many people do no like the receptacles showing above furniture such as end tables.
Most residential installation the receptacles were placed 12 inches (30 centimetres) above the floor.
The exception is special receptacles for kitchens counters and at least 1 dining room receptacle
OR
The home is for a senior or someone with a disability and a request for the receptacles to be placed higher for accessibility.

standard NEC (national elec. code) says, 16" to top of box from floor. comp-elec, is reasonably accurate. however. im 6' tall, and I have bad knees and also have had 5 back surgeries. I swear, just a couple days ago, I thought the exact same thing.....hahahahaha. good question!!

You are the exception if you like them higher, most don't. You can build your own house and place them at any height you like. There is not a requirement as to height of outlets except for ADA designed homes. It might cause a problem when it's time to sell.

in the kiitchen the outlets are counter height and it works just fine. I'm with you outlets need to be just above side table height.
