Why does a smoke alarm or carbon monoxide alarm bother my dogs ears?
Every time the batteries start to wear out the alarms chirp my dog starts panting and trying to hide , the best part is the monoxide is located in the basement for two days I did,nt hear it upstairs when I went down stairs I heard it . Finally figured out my dog following me all over the house.I blamed my husbands new sneakers for squeaking as he walked across the floor ,I guess the pitch must bother her ears maybe.

1. some noises to bother dogs ears because of the pitches. They can hurt the dogs ears and make them want to get away from the noise.
2. it is also possible that the dog was thinking that the alarm was going off, so she was following you and panting and everything trying to warn you that some thing was up.

A dogs hearing is ten times stronger than ours, so it hurts their ears. The chirping will wake me up from a sound sleep even if it is the one in the basement, imagine what the dog hears.

Cause it's extremely loud to them. You have remember that dogs' hearing sensitivities are three times stronger than a human. They can also hear up to 45,000 Hz of range where a human can hear up to 18,000 Hz.
