could i sue for emotional distress?

this is an issue with the Internet. I was using pics not truly me on ''dating'' or chat sites. I got in trouble by the internet company since they told the people what I did with their pics. Can I sue the company for emotional distress since I am a depressed/suicidal person?

Why are you thinking about suicide?

I think you need to see a Psychologist. I don't judge you. I just think you were not thinking clear when you did that, so instead, you should start taking care of yourself. live your own life. I am sure there is something beautiful in your own, even when it seems like there is nothing in it. God made you unique

Absolutely, just as long as you're prepared to be sued by the people in the pictures for their emotional distress over your misappropriation of their images. And let's not forget infringement of the photographers' copyrights.

You caused your own distress by posting pictures that were not you. The owner of those pictures could however successfully sue you.

You were catfishing. Be grateful you don't get sued yourself or arrested.

For them to be liable they would have had to either 1. INTENDED to cause the distress, or 2. Acted reckless or with malice. For example knowing you were extra sensitive and that it would likely occur (if they did, which is doubtful) weighed against the public interest of stopping what you did from occurring and informing your victims of their being victimized (which is high)

If you sued, you'd get counter sued and you'd lose. It would be bad.

Sure, but why stop there, sue Donald Trump because he probably own part of the company.

Sue your state governor, because of the privacy laws not protecting your interests, also sue president Obama, because the nsa was probably watching you.

But here is the thing none of them is responsible for your situation.

Your lies and stupidity is what got you on that position, being a liar and misrepresentation of your self are also crimes.

    No.

Generally speaking, "emotional distress" is never something you can sue for, and certainly not in this case.

No. This is not an internet issue.

EVERYONE ON THE PLANET has "emotional distress" at some point in their life and for different reasons. The question is how many take responsibility for their own reactions and feelings.

You have no grounds to sue anyone. This is a topic you need to bring up with your therapist.

You may have a case if you have professional medical documentation stating that you've been seen or admitted for mental health problems. You can't just "say" it, you have to prove it. The court will wounder what you were doing pursuing dates when you felt mentally unstable.

Those people had a right to know you were using their pictures. You had no right using them. I think you've lost this one.

Use your own photos next time.
