How to set and overhand serve in volleyball?
Hello!
I need some help with setting in volleyball. I've looked up tons of youtube videos, and they don't seem to help. I also practice setting with my dad, and I can't seem to get it then either. What should I do? Volleyball tryouts are on July 9, and I really need some help before then. Any tips?
The second thing I'm going to need help with is my overhand serve. Whenever I hit the ball, it ends up going high, but short. Any ways I can improve? I've been doing weights and tons of conditioning for tryouts. My bumping, hitting, and underhand serve are fine, it's just the overhand and setting I need help with.
Thanks.

As for your setting, make sure your hands are above your head and that you push the ball up with your fingertips. Also make sure when you push the ball up to bend your knees, thats where all of your power should be coming from.
For serving- hold the ball out straight in front of you with your opposite hand(the one you don't serve with) toss the ball a little above you, not too high. The higher the toss the harder it is to time your swing. Now as you toss the ball step with the foot under the hand you threw it with. bring you swinging arm back and extend it straight to hit the ball. Make sure to keep your arm straight and follow through.
Good luck! you'll get the hang of it with time.
