how to charge my Samsung Galaxy s5 in Italy?
I'm in Rome and trying to charge my American-bought Samsung Galaxy s5. A friend lent me a device that allows me to choose adapter or converter, and suggested that I use the converter option. But when I did the machine made a noise and when I unplugged the phone charging plug, it was quite hot to the touch. Should I choose the adapter feature instead? Thanks!

Look closely at your American charger. Mine (for my Samsung cheap model) says 100 to 240 AC volts input. 5 volts 600 Milli Ampere DC output. This means I can use it in Europe no problem for the electricity. I have a simple adapter that allows the American FLAT prongs to plug into a Euro outlet taking two round - pin plugs. Nothing more is needed.
A phone as modern and sold world-wide like the Samsung should have the exact same capability.
Would you like a photo of the adapter I am describing??
