Explain the difference between Up-Selling and Add On sales?

As the question says. I need to know what they both are and what the difference between them is. Thanks.

Up selling is encouraging a customer to buy a better, fancier, and/or more expensive version of a product they were already considering. An add on sale is when a customer buys something they weren't originally planning to buy.

Up selling is persuading a customer to buy a more expensive item than they planned to buy.

Add on sales is selling something extra. For example if a customer buys a shirt you could persuade them to buy a matching pair of trousers.

Upselling is selling a customer something they prolly cannot afford, but you think is much better.

Ad-On selling is selling an accessory or a warranty

an example of up selling & add on selling that you might be familiar with happens in the drive thru of your favorite fast food place:

"would you like to upgrade to the super gargantuan meal?" is an example of an up sale.

"would you be interested in a hot apple pie or a cool refreshing milk shake to go with that?" is an example of an add on sale.
