Is the hip hop and rap music genre dying?
I have been witnessing alot of changes going on these past years with current hip hop artists. For instance, alot of rap albums from 2011-2014 from French Montana to Drake, J Cole and Kendrick Lamar flopping and it doesnt seem like hip hop albums just are going platium and selling anymore. Whats going on? Is hip hop just dying or just not being promoted anymore?
Yeah I agree. I still don't see how Macklemore won all those Grammys. Macklemore is NOT hip hop and I don't understand why he's being passed off as such. The mainstream radio is GARBAGE and I haven't listened to the radio since 2006. Now I'm mostly playing my Public Enemy, NWA and Tupac CDs in my car. Lil Wayne is a POP artist and NOT hip hop.

It may not be selling as much but if people like us are still listening and theyre still people passionate about it, new upcoming rappers the Hip hop will always be alive

Since Macklemore won best hip-hop artist.
Yes.
Ps. Real hip-hop is still out there it's just underground, especially new york... do some searching you will find it but commerical ''rap pop'' is to sugar coat rap plus these guys just aren't from the same background as the 90s hip hop artists

1.I don't think it's dead, but nowhere as good as it used to be and can be.
2. more people are downloading than buying.
3.It's way more regional now.
4.listen to Joe Budden's "who killed hip-hop"

Rap is defiantly dying. I've completely given up on these new rappers and just listen to my tupac, wu tang etc. even eminem is going downhill, I struggle to relate to his music like I used to. Hip hop has been ruined by artists such as tyga, drake etc. too Hollywood for me. Don't even get me started on 2chainz.

It's not dying. We have good rappers today. Stop listening to 2 Chainz and try to look around.
