Good mkv to mp4 converter?

first thing to understand is that neither mkv nor mp4 are encoding formats, but media containers. some players/platforms will not play certain formats. others will do so with codecs. if you had provided a little more info then i could have maybe answered more fully but i suggest you try YAMB or another multiplexer (MeGUI also has a multiplexer) that accepts mkv and outputs mp4. the good thing about just changing the container is it only requires the time it takes to write a new copy of the file to disk...about 20 seconds for 1GB.

you need to be a skilled encoder to make even close to a 1:1 quality version of an already encoded file.

mkv is NOT lossless, because it is not an encoding protocol.

I just used this myself. Go to www.freemake.com - it's free. When installing, make sure you say no to the bloat-ware items unless, of course, you want it/them! If I can do it, anybody can!
