my computer has windows 7 home premium, and internet explorer 11.

I would aslo like to know if it matters where the down load is stored. When i down load java, how does the computer know where to store it?

It depends on what site is asking you to download java. With the proper java installed you can visit all your regular sites. There are a lot of fake popups and pop-unders that will prompt you to click on their java icon only to download malware and spyware to your computer.

Go to http://java.com/en/ and download the real java and see if that fixes your issue.

    Cheers
