Windows xp - now that there has been no support for a while, is anyone having problems?

We were warned that we'd be hacked, etc., but I wonder if anyone is seeing problems by still using xp to go online.

Thanks

Considering that Microsoft has not supported the retail market for over 3 years, the date of April 8th really did not mean anything. Just that they do not support XP.

Of course, then they backtracked and when a hole was found a week later, they patched it.

However the hole was actually NOT in Windows XP. It was in all versions of Internet Explorer. Since they had to patch it anyways to allow IE to continue to run on Vista, Win 7 and Win 8, it only made sense to also patch it for XP.

WIll there be a hole at some point? Yes. Will there be a fix for the hole? Yes, but not from MS. Someone will release a fix. And then hundreds of hackers will release fake versions of the fix that destroy XP and pretty much kill it as an OS.

Too bad because it was one of the best OS that MS every released. Why do you think it has lasted nearly 15 years.

There has been hackers because they have found a way to hack old Windows Operating Systems like Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, e.t.c.

You can be safe using XP if you follow some safety ideas.

Avoid being hacked by using "SandBoxie" free. Sandbox your web browser and install your browsers best security add-ons.

    http://www.sandboxie.com/

Better still I installed "DeepFreeze" to prevent any changes to my computer so a virus cannot install itself. I use both together. Make sure your Antivirus is always up to date and get Malwarebytes Pro, (well worth the extra protection)

And just to be safe I made a complete "System Image Backup" of my entire computer, saved to an external disk.

So if my XP gets hacked or messed up in anyway I can reinstall the whole computer back like new in 1/2 hr.

    Problem solved!

Or you can get the free LPS Deluxe US Military Grade OS and burn it to a CD and boot into this OS for surfing, of install it into VirtualBox or VMWare Workstation.

Hackers Hack for the challenge. They do not do it for the sake of malice, but just to get one over on microsoft and cause them as much discomfort as possible
