Antique doll or not?
Hi, Ive been selling on Ebay for quite some time.I recently saw that some antique dolls are pretty popular.Thought I would give it a try.Found a few very old dolls at an estate sale, with the stamp etc.But...how do I know exactly what they are worth or how to list them without knowing the names etc.I heard there are ways people are trying to make them and sell them as antiques, so how can I tell if these are knock offs or worth something without going to an antique dealer and spending a ton of money? Thanks! :-)

That is going to take research and experience. There are websites out there to research on, books you can buy or check out of the library with pictures, values, descriptions and such. Knowing the provenance of what you buy helps. For example, knowing for certain that the doll was owned by a particular family rather than buying one from another dealer who may not know for certain. Finding a mentor would be best, somebody with the knowledge and experience who is willing to share their expertise. But that may be hard to come by. You can try going to a few doll shows and looking at them, asking some intelligent questions. Bottom line is that this is not something you are going to become an instant expert on, sorry.
