Odysseus is the main protagonist in the triad of the Iliad, the Odyssey and the Aeneid. He is lonely because he left his home, his wife and life. The entire series is about him getting home. Could you not feel his pain? He has been called into service by the Greek army to fight wars beyond him and all he wants to do is get home. He misses his family; a recurring subject in the Greek myths. Loneliness is felt through the series; he speaks constantly of getting home. His despair defines him and destroys him. The God Poseidon is constantly abusing this despair to thwart his chance to get home; this is done all because Odysseus challenged and basically

thumbed his nose at the great god. And when you mess with a Greek god, you get served.
