Yahoo Mail offers a number of features to help keep spam out of your Inbox. For tips on ways to reduce unwanted spam messages be sure to take a look at this Yahoo Help article:

As good as Yahoo mail is the best way to manage email is to use multiple accounts and only have one that goes to your cell.
For the junk use a double filter, create an new email account at Yahoo, keep this private, do not give it to any 3rd parties.
Next go create a Gmail account at Google, go into settings and configure it to collect emails from your old account, then also set it to forward messages to your new Yahoo account.
So you will get both Yahoo and Google filtering and Google does not forward on the junk, you do not have to forward you can collect it from Google if you want, but I prefer Yahoo interface.
Gmail has the best spam filter and it is better at learning, so if one slips through you log into Gmail and mark the message that got through as spam.
You should also create an Yahoo account for junk mail, if you unsubscribe a genuine email that you subscribed but from a bad company they will put you on the sitlist, so change your subscription and give them the yahoo address you created for junk, you never have to go in there and read them.
Now for messages you are getting from people you don't know and never knew do NOT unsubscribe, it just tells them you are active and they will spam you more.
I report such junk emails to Spamcop, it gets their accounts shut down.
You can use the gmail account to send messages from your other accounts or you can use Yahoo (which I prefer, albeit the last version).
If you filled a survey and gave your email address, then start getting junk it is your own fault, but marking them as spam will stop them in due course.
