    Johnny Bench and Mike Piazza. Both were NL Rookies of the Year.

    Probably Carlton Fisk and Mike Piazza.

    There's little doubt Piazza had the best rookie season for a catcher in MLB history ... .318 BA ... 35 HR ... 112 RBI

    After that, it gets dicey.

    I submit Bench ... .275 BA ...15 HR ... 82 RBI

    Johnny Bench and Mike Piazza. Johnny Bench lived on and had a great career, from what I heard that Piazza came up with a new idea for a pie, like apple pie or peach pie only it was called a pizza pie. But that doesn't make him as good as Johnny Bench!
