How can a person look into the eyes of a dog and REALLY BELEIVE they do not have a soul?
Who came to the conclusion dogs do not have souls? I believe they do have souls. How can some one look into the eyes of a dog and say they do not have a soul? Why can a person come to the conclusion dogs do not have souls? Dogs feel pain, sorrow and express emotions just as humans do.
I am asking because I have a family member who says that dogs do not have a soul, they just 'are.' How would you handle this argument? I just state that I believe they do have souls. I am then bombarded with an unwelcome lecture for 20 minutes.

I say that if people have souls then all animals must have them, too. But of course, many people believe that people don't have souls because souls don't exist. The best answer to give someone who doesn't agree with you about religion or politics is "Let's agree to disagree on that."
If you get tired of the same old lecture, then believe whatever you think is true and keep your thoughts to yourself.
