How do I keep our Skype conversations interesting?

My crush and I Skype a lot. He plays video games most of the time, but he also converses with me. It's just that, when it comes to my turn to reciprocate in the conversation, I don't know what to say. My brain shuts off when I talk to him, it seems. I often sound really dumb and I just manage an 'uhh...' or 'I don't know'. How do I make good conversation topics on the spot and elaborate on them? I never seem to have this problem when talking to him irl, just on Skype.

This is because you have more time to think about your response while typing. It makes you overly anxious. :) You can try making yourself think about what you would say in real life... picture yourself having that conversation in person. What would you say?

Ask him about himself - what he likes, what bands he listens to, what movies he enjoys - guys love when a girl shows an interest in learning more about them. Also, listen closely to what he says and give your opinion, share a similar story, or ask him a question based on what he is saying, For example, if he tells you about a vacation he took to the beach, you can ask something like: "Oh, do you enjoy surfing (swimming or whatever)?" or "Did you visit ________ (name an attraction in that area if you know of one)?" Or, maybe you have been there and can talk about what you both did or wanted to do while you were there. Say something witty if something comes to you in response to his message. Be flirty but keep it light and playful.
