Going Swimming On A Period?!?
I'm 13 and I'm on my period, and I've had a period happen about four other times but Ive never wanted to go swimming in those times. This Thursday and Friday I'm going to swimming parties because of the end of school, but my period just showed up today. I don't want to wear tampons because I'm more comfortable with pads, but I heard pads expand in water. Can you give me tips on how to make inserting and taking out tampons less painful or any other way I could go swimming without having to use a tampon?

I was scared the first time too I spent two hours in the bathroom trying to put the tampon in. Maybe you could try using a Tampon before you go swimming its really not as bad as you think it will be and it will be well worth it!

The only way to swim on your period is to wear a tampon. People will be able to see a pad through your suit, it will expand in water, not only that but you will bleed in the water which is certainly disgusting.
Also if a tampon is uncomfortable after you insert it then you're not putting them in correctly. You have to hold the applicator by its ribbed lines and push the tampon applicator all the way inside you until your fingers, which are holding the ribbed lines, touch your body. Then you push the plunger all the way in inserting the tampon inside your body. If you do it right there shouldn't be any discomfort of wearing them. Also, if you are a virgin, use light flow tampons since they're slimmer.

Watch a video on YouTube to insert a tampon, it shows you with a pillow so you can get the idea, then you can practice on yourself, if you feel comfortable ask your mom for help, she knows what it is like.
