You can't do it directly from the iPad, the camera connection kit only supports the copying of photos and videos to the iPad's Photos app and not from the iPad. You can copy photos to your computer that were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites.

Depends on where the SD Card is located, since iPads don't have slots for SD Cards. I recommend that you just install a cloud storage app like Dropbox that will upload or sync your photos to other devices. So you can copy them onto your phone or home computer...
