I have radiating pain in my right tibia after running, should I be concerned? (read details for more info before answering please)?
I separated from the military over a year ago and have not ran since. I recently started running again to get back in to shape. I only run 1/4 mile at a time and walk in between. I do have a metal rod inside my right tibia from a car accident back in 2003. The pain is mostly on the right and left side and rarely on the front. The pain also runs from about 3 inches above the ankle to about 3 inches below the knee. I have had shin splints in the past and this doesn't feel like one. I don't feel the pain bicycling or walking or hiking. Have not felt this pain before when I ran prior to and during the military. The pain subsides after an hour to an hour and a half after running and I'm back to normal.

I'd check for bone fractures, torn muscles, or that deep vein thrombosis thing
If you don't eat good you could loose bone density. I wasn't getting enough calcium and my jaw dislocated from eating a powerbar. Due to bone density being low.
If you had crap deit with rod and brittle bones you might break something running. But I'm no doctor. Wrost case its a blood clot and dislodges and travels to your lung and you die. Least wrost is just a sprain or torn muscle
