Yes, if you have a good training regime and understand which muscles you need to learn to move, and how to target them. If you train properly you should get a neat trim waist (all that twisting and pulling your hips around using your core muscles rather than pushing with your limbs does wonders) . It won't help you lose a wobbly pouch on the front much. Not all belly dancers want to. Some like having womanly curves. Having a bit of fun is some exercise but not ideal.
