Photography help!! REVIEW my photos please!?

Hey guys and gals. I purchased a Nikon D3200 DSLR *(18-55 VR Lens) the other day. Pleased with the camera. My First DSLR. I started shooting manual and am learning fast... Tonight I shot some photos and was wondering if anyone could help me. I used a tripod in a few shots. I payed close attention to the meter and set my ISO, Fstop, SS accordingly.

Here is my FLICKR Account: https://www.flickr.com/photos/112859823@N05/

The last 3 photos I uploaded seem under exposed. I shoot in RAW (these are JPG versions)

This could be due to maybe not holding camera still?

So my question is, are these shots underexposed. and what would YOU have done differently if you were shooting with my lense. My settings are included in description. It is the most recent 3 uploaded. Thanks so much!

Actually exposure wise they seem ok to me.

Where you meter is obviously important as it will affect the light meter's reading. I tend to only use spot metering, as I am very specific as to what part of hte picture I want to control the exposure on.

Remember also that a camera's light meter works by placing the exposure at an average 'mid-tone'. If, when you adjust your exposure settings, you always place the meter on zero (centre line; ie neither under nor over exposed) then you are doing exactly what the camera would do in any of the othe Auto or semi-Auto modes.

The skill is in imagining what you want you image to look like and then PLACING your exposure where YOU want it to be. For example, I routinely underexpose landscapes by a 1/2-1 stop or so for richer colours.

As to the content/composition of the images I would say this - the content is not that compelling, but I wouldn't expect it to be - you ahve a new camera & you are experimenting with whatever's available. In terms of composition, they are not too bad either - you are placing teh subjects, for the most part, on a thirds line or intersection and are using different viewpoints.

Nothing wronf with jumping into using raw & manual shooting either - if you understnad the exposure triange & are coping well with it why not?

I am on Flickr as well - feel free to contact me via Flcikrmail if you have further questions

They are OK snapshots but you need to get a bit more originality and impact in your shots.

I'm just wondering why you are jumping ahead so fast into using manual and RAW with a camera you only purchased a few days ago.

Most start using Auto and gradually progress as they understand the camera and functions more.

why am i using RAW? Because I have Adobe LR4 and Photoshop, why would you shoot in anything else.
