ATV vs. UTV?

Im in the market for a new 4wheeler but Im also interested in maybe buying a side by side type vehicle. My 2 choices are narrowed down to a Honda Foreman ES 4x4 or a Kawasaki Mule 610 4x4. Anybody have any opinions or any pros-cons on these? Ive always had ATV's and the have always done the job but I was kind of wondering if the side by sides are suited for what I need better. Jobs like hauling deer out of the woods, hauling firewood, pulling trailers, etc.... just regular "around the yard jobs". Thanks in advance for the answers and help!

    Atv Vs Side By Side

I live an hunt Alaska. Here - the ATV is the family second car.

Those side by sides are great if are not going anywhere serious and your wife is not a gear head. My friend's wife cant drive a car to save her life - and - she his happy as a clam at high tide in their side by side. This is great for trips they do together. However, come moose season - that side by side is put aside (pun intended) and out comes his ATV and tag along trailer.

I have always babied by atv's and taken great care of them. Because I hunt in far off places - places where a break down will leave me in the middle of big bear country with a 3-4 day walk back to my pickup truck I take very, very good care of mine. A few years ago I had the misfortune of traveling with an ATV full of me and camping gear + a tag trailer with a 400+ pound caribou in it. We had to divert from the main trails due to flood water and mud......I was driving over 4-5 foot pine trees trying to avoid the water. We spent hours off the main trail blazing - I have the 2002 Suzuki Eiger 400's. I was shocked how awesome that thing broke trail, with a heavy trailer load, and we made it back alive. Although that trail would have been fine for a side by side when we went in - it sure was not fit for one a few days later on the way out. We would have been stuck leaving the side by side, the meat, and most of our equipment to walk out on foot.

There is a place for side by sides. I think you can have more fun on them all year round, especially if you are driving with your wife or gal pal. But you are just gonna need a ATV for serious hunting, hauling, and getting your @ss home if the weather goes sour on you.
