Hi, I am Travelling to Jakarta for the first time & I am curious about the infrastructure & amenites. Will I be able to leave my hotel & fin?

sounds like a fun place with a good exchange rate but what about finding a taxi or different restaurants. I'm used to travelling in Thailands & I wonder if the infrastructure & amenities similar?

Jakarta is a little bit like LA - you need a car to go everywhere. The traffic though - ugh. If people complain about LA traffic, they've never been to Jakarta.

It depends on the hotel, if it's a 4 or 5 star hotel, it's most probably really safe. But whenever I have to stay at a hotel in Jakarta, I always lock my laptop and other valuables in my luggage.

I think Jakarta is a lot safer than Thailand, at least the parts of Jakarta that I usually stay in. But overall it's pretty similar to Thailand - in terms of the cleanliness of the streets, the shopping places, etc.

You're going to have fun in Jakarta. Can't wait to come back in the summer!
