My car door hit another car and scratched the paint, should i say something?

In the apt complex that I live in, my car was parked on a downward slope in a parking spot. A water bottle fell out of my hands and I was distracted by what had happened and then suddenly i saw my car's door was right up against the car it was parked next to. I rubbed off all of the paint from my car that was on the other car's door, but it still left some chipped paint. no one saw me (that i know of).... should i go back out there and leave a note? They could have seen me rubbing their car door but i think they would have came out and asked me what i was doing. So i think they did not see me.....

Side note: i do not know who owns the car

Be a good Samaritan and leave a note. You would want to know if someone dinged your car by accident.

well the nice thing would be for you to leave a note saying what happened along with your phone number. that way the other person could contact you for repayment for the damages. what most folks would do however, is to simply get away as fast they possibly could without saying a word. because it is in a parking lot there is no police jurisdiction involved so if you choose to walk away you no doubt will be fine. not sure how your psyche will be for doing that, but legally you would be fine.
