What is the best way to polish black paint on a car?

I have a black 2006 Honda civic si. I recently purchased turtle wax for black paint. It comes in a spray bottle. Today I washed the car, dryed it off with a sponge-like rage called "the absorber". It looks like a shammy, but it's sort of spongey and rubbery. I've had good experiences with this rag in the past. I parked the car in the garage to let it cool off, then I applied the turtle wax spray using one side of a microfiber cloth to rub it on, then turning it over and polishing it off. I own an orbital buffer, but haven't used it in a few years. My goal is to get the swirls out of the clear coat and add a shine to it. My last car was green and I would wax it with a compound, once every year so. I am seeing that it is quite difficult to keep black paint clean, as it shows everything. Please tell me your ideas, tips, tricks, do's and dont's. Much appreciated! :-)

  • Do you prefer a heavy shift knob?

I'm thinking about getting a heavier shift knob for my 2006 Honda Civic Si. I was just wondering what types of shift knobs people prefer. I don't mind the stock knob on my car, but I hear people say it can be easier to shift into gears if the knob is heavy. This is my first manual transmission car. I've been driving for 12 years. The only other manual transmission vehicles I drive are my companies delivery trucks. Which have really long throws ( distance between gears ) I think that's the correct word. Correct me if I am wrong. Anyway, what are your thoughts? Much appreciated :-)

  • Can I buy a costco gift card and use it to buy gas if I am not a member?

I would like to know if I can buy a costco gift card, as a non-member, and use this gift card at one of their gas stations. They tend to sell their gas a little bit cheaper than the big brands out there. I want in on the deals, without becoming a member. Is this ideal, or possible?

  • What tires should I buy for my 8th gen Honda Civic Si Coupe?

I recently purchased an 8th generation Honda Civic Si Coupe. I would like to know, what are a good set of tires for it? I have the special edition wheels. I think they are 17 inches. Everything on the car is stock.

  • How should I buy a car from a seller who(READ TEXT)?

How should I buy a car from a seller who still owes on his car? He owes $12K, is selling me the car for $8k, is adding the difference ($4k) and his finance company is going to send me the title of the car by mail as soon as the debt is paid. The seller obtained this loan from the car dealership upon purchase. The finance co. is in Texas (we are in Oregon). I told him I am not going to write him a check or hand him any of my money. He said he talked to his finance co. and they said that they would accept payment from me by getting my routing number to my checking account. <--IS THAT a bad thing??? I've had family members tell me that it is a secure way to make a payment. I'm waiting for the seller to send me a personalized bill of sale. Something that we can both sign and have together. Also, he is going to give me access to his account with his finance co. to prove to me that he has paid his $4k first before I give them my $8k.

All in all, the seller wont be able to touch the title because the bank holds it. The title will be sent to me once the payment has been made. I know this is a huge hassle for me, and it's doing the seller a favor for knocking out car debt. I don't feel like I owe anyone anything and have no trouble backing out if I need to. But his car is a steal for $8k, so my thoughts are, that it is worth the trouble.

Let me know what you think! :-)

  • I'm trying to buy a car from a private seller, who's bank is out of state, and the bank has the title.?

The seller owes $12k. Seller is selling it to me for $8k and he's paying the difference to his finance company. His finance co. is in Texas (we are in Oregon). What is the best way to make sure my money is handled safely, when I go to pay my $8k? I am not writing a check to the guy, I am not using my debit card over the phone to pay for my share in paying off the debt. I do not use credit cards, so that is out of the question. I was wondering if it's possible for his finance company to send me the title of the car, once the payment clears, rather than sending it to the seller then to me. I would feel much safer if the seller doesn't touch the title at all. Please, if you have any ideas, let me know. Thank you!

  • Help me decide on a good car in the price range of $7,500 and $10,000?

I was hopping someone could give me some advice on what they think would be a good fitting car for myself. I want something with 4 doors, something that is a little more sporty than a base model, is a manual transmission, clean title. I wouldn't mind a 2 door coupe if it seats 4 or 5. I've been looking at subaru's, Honda's, toyota's, nissan's, scion's, etc. I wouldn't mind a forester, a civic si coupe or sedan, or a mazda 3 or 6. Let me know your thoughts on the matter.

    Thank you!
