Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

How can I get rid of this malware?

On Yahoo (for example), the text of a story will have some words double-underlined. It is not a reference link, but an advertisement link. Following the link leads to a page where you will get the illusion that you can turn it off. But, it is right back there again.

I have searched for any of the phrases that might be in the add/delete programs, but no luck.

Any hints on where to find it and get rid of it. Thanks.

    Malwarebytes

download, install, update and then do a full system scan, delete what is found.

the adds are most likely caused by an 'extensions' or 'addon/toolbar' in your browser, disable them all and then enable one at a time, check the settings of them all to find out which one might be causing the issue.

Those are marketing tools, not malware.

Get the right browser, modified to block ads, and you'll be done with those and many other intrusive behavior.

    Firefox: /question/index?qid=20131...

iE can't be modified enough. Use at your own risk.
