when does the irs update their online transcripts?

If you needed to update your address with the IRS the IRS should have had you to fill out form 8822 otherwise friendly customer service more than likely only noted your account. Online transcripts are (supposed) to be updated daily but that is not always true. There seems to be a big data dump of updates to transcripts between Friday night and Monday morning since the IRS has been behind in their processes.

What does it matter what the process is? They told you when you would get your check - 2 to 4 weeks. My guess, it will be updated about a week before they cut the check. There is nothing stopping you from checking every few days.

The reason the IRS sent your refund to your old address is because that was the address you entered on your tax return. In case you don't know, you can fill out a change of address form at the USPS & you should have. For future reference ... the irs also has a change of address form you can fill out too.

if your refund was sent to the wrong address it was because that is what you entered on your tax return

a transcript and how often it is updated has nothing to do with where your refund is sent, that is something that you control

Once a day you can check the Where is my REFUND website at the www.irs.gov website.
