One of my favorite movies partially because the Karate is much better than in other movies. Still choreographed to make it look good and entertaining of course but very well done and not over done. Tatsuya Naka is a 6th Dan Japan Karate Association instructor and former karate champion from Tokyo. He did a commentary on the movie I think it was "High Kick Girl" about Karate and it was really good.

Well, by the logic of the moral of the story, Karate in it's ultimate form would basically be Aikido.
The fight scenes were fun to watch. Karate is fascinating to me as I have never studied it, but I have respected all GOOD Karate as a Muay Thai practitioner. It was interesting to see it used in choreography in the way that it was here.
The movie itself had a pretty cheesy story, though.

That it's meant to look very much like the by-rote Shotokan/Japanese-style karate. Not particularly realistic in my opinion, but I appreciate the choreography.

i love some of the kata bunkai they do in that movie, although it does remind me of the typical jka shotokan.
oh i just read linondancers remark about the jka instructor being in there. lol.
but it is a great movie i did enjoy it.
