I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a smart comment, but the fact is, if you can't prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt via testable, observable, and self-verifying evidence, then we can't really say that it's actually there. There has to be some element of proof to verify it (assuming you're talking about some kind of God).

I am always amused or perhaps bemused by the statement often heard, "I survived the [pick your holocaust] by the grace of god."  Why?  Because it was clearly the wrath of that god that caused the problem in the first place.
